Honors Student Learning Outcomes:
The goal of this assessment plan is to further embed regular assessment of student learning in all honors courses and work towards closing the loop in each of these areas. These Honors Program Learning Outcomes have been aligned with the Liberal Arts and Sciences Program Learning Outcomes to ensure consistency across the disciplines. Grading rubrics have been developed for each area and will be used to assess Honors courses each year with the aligned Liberal Arts and Sciences program learning outcomes.
Professional Communication:
Objective: Students will apply appropriate oral and written communication skills across settings, purposes, and audiences in an effort to build and maintain healthy and effective relationships.
Basic Knowledge of Subject Field, Intellectual Rigor:
Objective: Students will be challenged to think, perform, and grow to a level/standard provided by their individual field of student. Students will demonstrate basic knowledge and relevance of their field of study.
Research/ Critical Thinking:
Objectives: Students will use theoretical (or experimental) discovery to acquire new knowledge about a subject. Students will identify, analyze, and evaluate multiple arguments as they occur in the literature of the discipline and develop well-reasoned, evidence-based arguments. Students will use a variety of resources such as primary sources such as scholarly journal, books, and other sources from their discipline to inform their interpretation and hypothesis.
